A Cool Change

2 Mar

Sydneysiders (and the rest of the Southern Hemisphere) are saying goodbye to wearing next to nothing, summer salads and what has been a very humid summer. Despite Autumn making itself known with this sudden cold snap, reminding us that it’s all over, I have my fingers crossed that there will be a few more beach days still.

Maybe I’m being a bit dramatic because it certainly it won’t be as cold as the recent winter Europeans have just suffered. So looking on the bright side, it’s time to start purchasing cozy coats and scarves, settling in with warming, hearty soups and getting under the covers rather than (if you’re like me) kicking them to the floor each night.

What are you looking forward to most this winter?

Straight Outta Wonderland…

20 Jan

The girls and I are heading to an afternoon of High Tea this weekend at The Victoria Room and I’m already trying to plan my outfit in my head. It will most certainly be a dress and heel combo of some sort (we will be in Kings Cross and post-tea dancing will happen) and while I can picture something pastel, the final result is still up in the air.

Thoughts?

Feeling Festive.

1 Dec

Here we are folks.

It’s that lovely albeit hair-tearingly frustrating time of year when the department stores have Christmas carols on repeat, the word ‘turkey’ is thrown around often and on a personal note, when Love, Actually finds a home for 30 days in my DVD player.

This year my sister, boyfriend and I are hosting a small Christmas Day gathering at our apartment in Sydney’s stinking hot summer, unlike my previous Christmas which was spent building a snowman in the Swiss Alps. I love Christmas, despite the commercialism; being a Sydney girl I love the heat and the late dinners and unwrapping a few (I’m not greedy) heartfelt presents with a chilled glass of wine by my side.

So what’s on the menu this year readers? A late afternoon roast? A BBQ by the water? Or a picnic perhaps? The wonderful thing about Christmas is that every family does it differently…

After stuffing myself silly and swearing I’ll never eat again, the boyfriend, a few good friends and myself are heading off to spend the New Year in Fiji. With a couple of buffets and all you can eat feasts, I doubt my resolution to be sensible around food won’t stick. But really, when do resolutions really stick?

Happy 100th Post!

fall-4

It took me a while but we’ve made it. Lauren Mangioni has reached 100 blog posts, it’s a miracle.

Over the years, from kindergarten to Year 12, almost all my teachers teachers told my parents I was ‘very easily distracted‘ and it’s true. I’ve blogged all over the shop in the past but I’m glad to say I’m sticking around. Thanks to all who have helped me thus far, mainly my boyfriend Yarran who has made every change I’ve requested and helped me with those fiddly internet thingymebobs that stress me out so much!

To celebrate the anniversary I never thought would come, I’m going to eat some cheese. I’d also like to throw it open to you, the readers, and ask, what would you like to see more and less of in this blog. Music? Inspiration? Photographs? Opinions? Fashion? Less Lauren? (Too bad if that’s the case because I’m sticking it to my old teachers…who’s flight now?!)

Bad Lauren!

This poor blog has been suffering from a slight case of neglect.

Due to the fact I’ve been enjoying my job so much (a really great and very welcome change to what I was going through earlier in the year), I come home with only enough energy to tweet and catch up on Glee and Gossip Girl.  However it’s a rather humid but wet Sunday and I’ve got a dusty head and nothing to do but sit under my air conditioner, hoping and praying that this horrible Spring weather takes leave of us Sydneysiders very soon.

In the meantime, here are a few of the blogs that I’ve been loving lately; Deeelightful, What Is Reality Anyway? and The Cherry Blossom Girl. All of these bloggers are fabulous women with wardrobes to envy and I promise you, they update a lot more frequently than I do!

What about you readers? What are your favourite blogs?
